What is Layar Connect?

Layar Connect is an API that allows you to publish and maintain your layers without using the Layar Publishing Site.

The API lets businesses build content management systems so those without coding and development knowledge can more easily build layers. Alternatively, developers can also build their own tools to suit their individual needs or create a system for external parties to deliver content for a layer.

With Layar Connect 2.0 comes full access to publish traditional geo-layers and the ability to publish layers with Layar Vision. As with Connect 1.0, you can maintain layers for yourself or for clients.

How do I use it?

To use Layar Connect, you will need to apply for an API Key to our Layar Connect Sandbox environment. This key will give you the chance to explore the Connect API, determine if it is right for you and begin developing your tools. Once you are satisfied with what you have built with Connect, you will need to apply for a Production Key so that you can publish layers for the Layar Reality Browser and/or Layar Player. Production Keys are available upon review and arrangement of payment.

While use of the Layar Connect Sandbox environment is free, a monthly license fee is required to use a Production Key. To learn more about costs for access, contact us at developerapi@layar.com. We highly encourage you to explore the API in the free Sandbox before considering the purchase of a Production Key license.
