Layar Creation Challenge

Layar recently released Layar Vision, an extension of the Layar platform enabling visual search on the mobile phone, recognizing real world objects and showing digital content on top of them. Users can view and interact with digital experiences by holding their phone over objects like posters, magazines and newspapers.

We organized the Layar Creation Challenge as a way to kickstart the Layar Vision launch by encouraging developers to create immersive Augmented Reality experiences with the beta client.

More than 200 developers registered for the Challenge. We reviewed many great submissions, but narrowed the list down to the 15 concepts that we believed best met the Challenge criteria. We featured these 15 finalists in the Layar Creation Challenge Short List PDF.

Our expert jury selected 10 of these concepts as winners, and awarded those developers a portion of the $55,000 prize money!

Try these concepts out yourself using the reference image page or watch a short demo of all 10 concepts in this winners mashup video.
