Newtown Creek, Brooklyn NY

Newtown Creek is a massively contaminated superfund site that flows through the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Bushwick, Williamsburg and Greenpoint. The AR artwork has the distinctive outline of the creek and is textured with the irridescent sheen of one of its own oil slicks. The artwork is positioned at Meeker Ave. near Gardner Ave. in Greenpoint, at one of the rare street access points on the creek, and provides a visualization of the entire sweep of the creek for viewers standing on the shore. The artwork premiered on April 8, 2011 in the show "gradually melt the sky" in the Devotion Gallery, Brooklyn New York.
