Layar’s Maarten Lens-FitzGerald Featured in Special Report by Reuters

Chris Cameron February 1, 2011

After a few visits to the Layar office from photographers, videographers and writers, Reuters has published a special report on augmented reality featuring an interview with Layar co-founder Maarten Lens-FitzGerald.

The piece focuses on the industry of augmented reality, where it originated from, where it is now and - most importantly - where it’s going in the future (with Layar at the helm).

“While revenues from AR alone amount to no more than a few tens of millions of dollars, that number is set to double annually to reach $350 million in 2014, according to New York-based ABI Research,” writes the article’s author, Tarmo Virki. “The impact across the broader mobile and computer industry could be much bigger, convincing consumers to use their mobile devices even more than they already do.”

Be sure to click through to the Reuters article and read all about augmented reality and Layar’s role in the future of the technology. Also be sure to check out this video (embedded below) shot by the Reuters crew which features many examples of great layers as well as an interview with Maarten.

    Dear Maarten Lens

I would like to introduce myself as a beginning

I operate in the field of media design and publishing and printing.
I want to work in the field of digital media activities of the company marketing in Turkey and I also want to serve here with creative applications. These two activities will operate independently from each other.

I would likte to do your company's advertising and marketing in Turkey as your company's official representative. These marketing activities will take place over your website, I will make new clients for your company, then we should agree the profit percentage, so that I could earn my part of interest. Particularly
I would like to underline that I do not want to be a partner, but the representative
so that I could operate with registration. Because I have to earn money and pay the costs here. These activities have to be obligatory to a member from Turkey, who wants to work with you, because I will build a network in Turkey.

Here is Blipar company acting as representative in Turkey, but I myself will create a more widespread network I believe.

We have previously established a connection with European representatives, but we could not progress. I do hope that we will provide a new result that both companies will profit from this cooperation.

    Best regards,

    Ahmet Hizarci
