We believe this will also result in an improved AR and Interactive Print experience for the consumer.”
– Quintin Schevernels, CEO of Layar
The Layar Creative Studio will complement the existing self-service Layar Creator product, and will work closely with the Layar Partner Network – comprised of 29 companies in 17 countries – to provide local expertise and service to clients. The Amsterdam-based team is lead by Layar’s Director of Creative Services Arjen de Vries, who previously worked in marketing, communications and advertising with several companies, including digital and creative agencies and leading publishers. Layar plans to expand the team to its other offices in the U.S. and Canada soon.
Layar is bridging the gap between print and digital as the world’s leading provider of Augmented Reality (AR) and Interactive Print products, services and expertise. AR allows for an enhanced view of the real world, connecting people with more meaningful digital content in their everyday lives. Using the camera and sensors in a smartphone or tablet, AR can add extra layers of content – videos, photos, sounds – directly on top of items in the world around us.
With Layar’s Interactive Print technology, publishers, advertisers and brands can instantly activate and engage with their audience by adding extra digital content to magazines, billboards, packaging and more. The Layar App for iOS, Android, BlackBerry and Google Glass has been downloaded over 38 million times, and over 90,000 professionals are actively using the self-service Layar Creator to build and launch interactive campaigns. With the Layar Creative Studio, brands, publishers and agencies can receive full, end-to-end campaign service from concept to execution, as well as professional consulting and training.
Publishers including Hearst, Hubert Burda, Gruner + Jahr, Conde Nast, and Meredith, as well as brands like Jaguar, Reebok, Kraft, BMW, Heineken, Nissan and Pepsi are already taking advantage of Layar’s technology to bring interactivity to their products and increase customer activation and engagement.
Layar was founded in 2009 and has offices in Amsterdam, New York and Toronto. The company’s shareholders include Intel Capital, Sunstone Capital and Prime Ventures.
